Going Through the Notions by Cate Price is what cozy mysteries are all about! Even when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about reading it and thinking about the characters. The story was just delightful. There was small-town charm, a satisfying whodunit, and a wonderful sleuth in Daisy Buchanan. I really didn’t want the book to end. I’m anxiously awaiting book #2 in the series, A Dollhouse to Die For. ~ Brooke Blogs
Price is a born storyteller,
who uses humor and quirky characters to create a world readers will want to
return to again and again. Going Through the Notions is a cozy that has some
very thrilling moments and Price is able to draw in the reader with a clever
heroine and lots of small town charm. ~ Debbie’s Book Bag
This book was a very enjoyable read. Cate has created a wonderful small town community with interesting (and likable, perhaps even lovable) characters. I also enjoyed the way she seamlessly wove the back story into the current one. The plot will keep you guessing. I love Daisy. She’s a tad bit older than I am, but I really connected with her. Must be that educator thing. Daisy is a sensible, down to earth character that I believe most readers will connect with. ~ Booklady’s Booknotes

Set in the perfect place for me, an antique notions shop! I love auctions,
love antiques and Daisy is seeking out all these great items to have in her
shop. Daisy's husband Joe is a laid back, easy going husband. There are so many books that don't
build up marriage and I really loved how these two, despite their different
personalities, worked like a well oiled antique together. ~ A Year of Jubilee Reviews
Cate Price is off to a great start with this
series. First books in a series are hard because you have to introduce the
characters and give them enough depth so that the reader is engaged but not too
much because there are more installments to come. They also have to give the
reader a mystery with substance to keep those pages turning. Price has done
both in this book. Cozy fans, there’s new author in print and
you are going to love her stories. Small town charm, quirky characters, a dose
of humor, a bit of romance, and murder. Just the way we love them! ~ Escape with Dollycas into a Good Book
Going Through the Notions is
a fantastic start to a cozy mystery series by author Cate
Price. It is cute, funny, and full of small town charm. I really enjoyed my
time spent with all the quirky characters living in the village of Millbury and
my visits to the Sometimes a Great Notion shop. Isn’t that a great cover as
well – it was one of the first things that drew me to this delightful cozy
mystery. ~ Peeking Between the Pages
The author did a good job in keeping me on my toes by throwing me off my track with a couple of red herrings here and there, and overall a good job in delivering a finely tuned piece of work. With a great supporting cast, engaging dialogue and a small town atmosphere, I can’t wait to dive into the next book in this pleasantly appealing series. ~ dru’s book musings

I had this strange notion (haha!) that this book would be fun and I was not
disappointed! I really like the way that Cate Price describes her characters
and sets the tone of the novel from the start. You know that Daisy is not going
sit on her butt and be idle while her friend is in trouble! She's not a tough
chick, but she's not a push over either. Loved that! The writing is on point, the characters are great and nicely written, the main
character is interesting, and the story just flows naturally. I think this is a
great first installment to a series and look forward to what is to come! ~ MustRead Faster
Daisy was a fun character because she seemed so genuine and went out of
her way to help people. I also liked the fact that Daisy was married and in a
loving relationship compared to other heroines in mystery novels. ~ Books-n-Kisses
Full of quirky characters that I am looking forward to
meeting again, I am anxiously waiting for the next book in the Deadly
Notions Mystery series. If you are looking for a quick read that leaves
you guessing and has a great small town vibe, then this is the story for
you. Great job Cate. ~ Melina’s Book Blog
All lovers of true
cozies can rest easy now because a new true cozy author has joined the ranks.
If you are a fan of Cleo Coyle’s Coffee House Series or Ellery Adams’ Books By
The Bay Series or Susan Wittig Albert’s China Bayles series or… well you get my
drift, you are going to love Cate Price’s Deadly Notions series. ~ Rantin’ Ravin’ and Reading
The
action in this story starts off in the first chapter and just keeps going.
Readers will have a fun time trying to solve this mystery as it plays out
through Daisy's own words. I can't wait to see what the next book in the series
will bring! Ms. Price has a hit on her hands! ~ Lisa Ks Book Reviews
This is a promising start for a fun new series. Cate Price
writes with a natural tone, describing the characters and the settings with
just enough detail to make this reader feel as though I was already visiting
old friends and places. The story is unique and funny, with enough small town
antics and drama to make it a true cozy. The town of Millbury, Pennsylvania
will welcome you, too. ~ Book Addict (ENTIRE REVIEW AT MyShelf.com

This book is a clean read, good quirky characters, could make you eat desserts,
go to an auction or two. Has good suspense that keeps you guessing, lots of
suspects, some drama and keeps your attention. At the back of the book it has
some fun tips on garage sales to crafts. A couple of the crafts using old
sweaters I would like to do sometime. ~ Readalot
